ELECTRONEWS : Quando nasce la tua passione per la musica elettronica ?
MIKE PAKER : Ero appassionato per la musica elettronica fin da giovane. Ora ho 45 anni . Ho visto la performance dei Kraftwerk live del Computer World Tour nel 1981. Le mie attività da dj iniziarono nella radio del college, le cose in passato erano differenti nel senso che la selezione musicale era più importante del ” saper mixare ”
ELECTRONEWS : Nel 1997 hai lanciato la tua label ” Geophone ” …come si è evoluto il label in questi anni ?
MIKE PARKER : Geophone rimane una piattaforma per le mie produzioni, dove ho il pieno controllo artistico sul contenuto.
L’artwork si evolve in contemporanea con la musica, esprimendo la libertà e la spontaneità di creare un qualcosa, senza le pressioni esterne causate dalle richieste delle altre etichette.
ELECTRONEWS : Hai un sound ” speciale ” , se sentiamo una tua track , possiamo riconoscere immediatamente che è tua…cosa fa sì che il tuo sound sia così unico??
MIKE PARKER : Non lo so esattamente, però registro tutto ” live “…può darsi che è questo che rende il mio sound così speciale.
ELECTRONEWS : Quali artisti ti hanno influenzato maggiormente durante la tua carriera?
MIKE PARKER : All’inizio Throbbing Gristle, Tangerine Dream, Cabaret Voltaire…
dopo sono stato influenzato da Jeff Mills , Plastikman, Steve Bicknell e tanti altri…
ELECTRONEWS : Hai suonato al ” Labirynth festival ” in Giappone, scommetto che era veramente speciale; puoi dirci qualcosa in più su questo famoso festival?
MIKE PARKER : E’ sicuramente il più bel festival all’aperto in cui abbia mai suonato. Gli artisti sono scelti con molta cura e il sound sistem è di gran livello. Il Giappone è un bellissimo Paese.
ELECTRONEWS : Quali sono i tuoi progetti futuri per Geophone, e puoi dire ai fan di electronews.net quali saranno le tue prossime serate, modo da poterti sentire?
MIKE PARKER : Quest’anno voglio pianificare delle release con dei remix di artisti unici, però non posso ancora rivelarvi i nomi !

ELECTRONEWS : When did your passion for electronic music start?
MIKE PARKER : I was crazy for electronic music from an early age. I am 45 now. I saw Kraftwerk perform live on the Computer World tour in 1981, for example. My dj activities started on college radio. Things were different then, when the music itself was more important than the beat mixing.
ELECTRONEWS : In 1997 you launched your label “Geophone”.. …how did the label evolve in these past years??
MIKE PARKER : Geophone remains a vehicle for my own productions, where I have complete artistic control over the content.
The artwork evolved along with the music, expressing the freedom and spontaneity to create without the external pressures caused by label demands.
ELECTRONEWS : You have a special sound, if we hear a track we can immediately recognize that it’s yours..what makes your sound so unique??
MIKE PARKER : I don’t know exactly, but I record everything “live”… Maybe this is part of it.
ELECTRONEWS : Which are the artists who influenced you the most in your career?
MIKE PARKER : Early on; Throbbing Gristle, Tangerine Dream, Cabaret Voltaire….
Later; Jeff Mills, Plastikman, Steve Bicknell and plenty of others…
ELECTRONEWS : You played at Labirynth festival in Japan, I bet it was really special , can you tell us something more about that festival???
MIKE PARKER : It’s really the most engaging outdoor festival I have ever attended. The artists are carefully chosen and the sound is top notch. Japan is a beautiful country.
ELECTRONEWS : which are your future projects for “Geophone” and can you tell us what are your next gigs so the electronews.net fans can come and hear you??
MIKE PARKER : This year I want to plan some releases with remixes from unique artists. But I can’t say which ones yet!
