Dj DarkHawk Electronews Especial Interview

DJ DarkHawk – Electronews Especial by Electronewsnet

Hello kevin! wellcome to electronews , so introduce yourself , tell us about your life!

My family is from El Salvador, I was born in Houston, Texas, and grew up in Toronto, Canada.
I would say I’m Salvadoran / Canadian with an American passport…
I first started making mix tapes when I was around 13. At that time I was obsessed with underground hip hop, Latin rap, but I’ve always liked different styles and genres of music. After the 90′s I began to listen to DJs like:  Tiësto, Paul van Dyk, Oakenfold, but it was Deep Dish that changed the way I viewed and played music.  They are one of my biggest influences when it comes to music.

So tell us about your sound and how the tecnology have changed your style

Well my sound has changed a lot in the past couple of years, and I would have to say that it’s mainly due to the introduction of Native Instruments Traktor, and Abelton live to my set up. I’m a huge fan of technology, and I fell  that its because of this that I’ve been able to push my sets to new limits and to go “out side the box”.

What about DJing? isa work? a life style? a passion?

DJing has always been a passion of mine, but I never took it as a means to paying the bills.  I’ve also been working very hard on my career as a computer technician, playing in Rome would be a real treat and i would love to make it happen in the near future.

All your production contain fresh sound and very smooth , yo u have a favourite genre?

I’ve never been one-sided when it comes to genres and I’ve seen fads come and go.  For me personally it’s just a matter of getting it out of my system, and to be honest I’m not a big fan on labeling music altogether. This is why when I play I try to incorporate different sounds and also different time periods in order to expose my listeners to something new.

Have you ever been in Italy?

Ever since I was a little kid I’ve been a big fan of Italian Futbol. Ac Milan, Roma, Palermo… I’ve always gone out of my way to catch the friendlies when they come to town. Unfortunately I’ve haven’t had the pleasure of visiting Italy yet.

You have a funny story to whisper to us? :)

Well back in my school days we use to party hard much like today, but one time my mates and I went out clubbing  and I ended up hooking up with this older chick. We went back to her house for a good time, and in the morning I discovered after seeing the photos on the wall that she was one of our classmates mom. We never told him but every time I saw him around school it reminded me of that night…

You play in digital or vinyl mode?

I have a huge record collection and my love for vinyl will never die. With that being said I have embraced the digital world and prefer to play in digital because of the many possibilities it offers me on the spot. I also still use my Walkman and listen to cassette tapes all the time :) .

What about the future? Any plan?

Well the plan is to make enough money to be able to retire at 40, and move to Argentina. Then I can create and play music without any financial pressure. This has been my dream for quite some time now. I’m also very big on environmental issues and World Wildlife Fund. My goal is to be able to have a big enough impact so that we can change and save our beautiful planet.
