Sapevo che vi aspettavate qualcosa di nuovo , che smuovesse un po’  l’afa estiva , magari qualcosa che accompagni un  the freddo pomeridiano , in casa con 39 gradi che aspettano fuori dalla serranda sapientemente tappata, o per un aperitivo ben riuscito  all imbrunire davanti a un gustoso negroni; ECCO FATTO! Ve lo presento , per chi non lo conosce , si chiama Craig e di cognome fa Album ( si avete letto bene Craig Album). La sua storia e’ davvero strana , Craig  lavora nel settore risorse umane per una grossa societa’ finanziaria londinese , e nel tempo libero ha l’hobby di “suonare” . Per “hobby di suonare” intendo  serate al ministry of sound club di londra , per citarne una…

Ma la cosa che lo soddisfa di piu’ a detta sua,  e’ creare mix da diffondere nel web,  per far godere noi poveri umani attanagliati dallo stress quotidiano di momenti estremamente rilassanti e godarecci. E’ davvero difficile individuare uno stile “ricorrente” nelle produzioni di Craig , spazia dalla Tech house alla progressive , senza disdegnare la trance piu’ soft , che quasi raggiunge sonorita’ Chillout / Lounge in alcuni frangenti. I suoi mix sono poderosi ma accompagnano perfettamente qualsiasi situazione , per morbidezza dei suoni , ricercatezza , e tecnicna , non ha davvero nulla da invidiare ai “mostri sacri” del settore.

Vi invito ad ascoltare il mix esclusivo che ci ha concesso , che scava nei meandri della progressive trance partendo dal dimenticatoio dei primi anni novanta , fino ad arrivare ai giorni nostri. Non lasciatevi perdere ASSOLUTAMENTE , tutte le altre sue produzioni , sopratutto il PROMO MIX FOR MINISTRY OF SOUND, che e’ , senza  esagerare , adorabilmente ipnotizzante.

Di seguito un esclusiva intervista che gentilmente Craig ci ha concesso!

Tell us much about you Craig..

I am a 32 year old confessed electronic music addict – dj’ing as a hobby on and off for the last 11 years. I have played at clubs such as Ministry of Sound and with house music legend John Kelly at his night in Liverpool, England. I also ran a night in the late 90s called Aquasonic and played alongside John OO Fleming amongst others. My sound is difficult to pin down – I play everything from tech house, to progressive to techno and trance. If a track has a good groove and melody and has a deep edge to it, then there’s a chance I will play it. My DJ sets will always build throughout, taking in all sorts of sounds.

All your mixes ipnotize the listner , are you a wizard or what?

This is possibly my favourite question that has ever been put to me! I try to take the listener (and myself) on a musical journey, selecting tracks that compliment each other, that weave together like a tapestry – making the total aural experience greater than the sum of it’s parts. If people listening get that, it makes me very happy indeed.

Progressive in italy isn’t really appreciated, where is the problem in your opinion?

The typical Italian sound historically has been a lot harder, an in your face techno sound, from DJs and producers like Mauro Picotto. The progressive sound is much deeper and slower that perhaps requires more patience. DJs like Dusty Kid are beginning to cross over and introduce some of this to Italian ears, but I think it probably needs a big name or a big cross-over track to help the prog sound take off. I would love to help if you have any clubs that would like me to play in Italy!

We have loved your mixriot tribute mix , the tracks are mixed in wonderful way, nearly imperceptible in the passages, how much time dedicates to listen music?

Thank you. Not as much as I would like – it usually takes me around 3 or 4 hours to select the tracks and experiement with the order in which they should be played. A lot of it is instinctive. But music is my passion – in another life, maybe I would have dedicated all of my time to music, but I chose a different path which takes up a lot of my time and effort – at least for now…

You mix in digital or vinyl mode? cdj? traktor?

 I use CDJs when I DJ.

You have a funny history that regards you to tell us?

I run a recruitment business in the city of London, which takes most if not all of my focus during the week. We help Investment Banks and other financial institutions find good people to work for them.

Any open project at the moment?

I am DJ’ing at Ministry of Sound in September and will also be in Ibiza that month. I have also pujt together a mix for your website – a retrospective mix, which includes a lot of the music that inspired me in the late 1990′s and early 2000′s.
